LUIS ROYO & ROMULO ROYO
FROM DECEMBER 9, 2020 TO MARCH 1, 2021
“Art is not the least mysterious of the passions of men. From the beginning, even from the first chapter of the Bible, art has created and continues to create universes parallel to the one that the days and nights give us. The raw materials are colors, shapes, other perceptions, movements, memory, imagination and oblivion”.
Jorge Luis Borges.
LUIS ROYO, DRAGÓN BLADE.
We want this Borges´definition be the heading of our new exhibition: Mysterious. The plastic work doesn´t want to reflect everyday life. This sentence is a constant in our artists. The work of Luis Royo and Romulo Royo connects with mysterious and imaginary worlds and immerses us in their personal inner world.
It drive us to imagine and live the not seen. This is the objective of the selected works: that their images transport us to the mysterious. Make us participate and accomplices when defining this mysterious journey through our thoughts that makes the essence of the art work our own.
In many of them, the enigma is in a look or an attitude. These gestures indicate the path of our interpretation. There are art that show fantasy worlds and works that entangle us in their dream setting or in an imaginary future.
To make this selection enriched enought we have gathered 100 art works in a wide selection (some of them belong to books or stages of which Laberinto Gris already only has one or two pieces, the rest are property of collectors).
