DARK GODDESSES

OF LUIS ROYO & ROMULO ROYO

FROM DECEMBER 19, 2019

Huberty & Breyne Gallery_Bruxelles_Luis Royo_Romulo Royo

Huberty Breyne Gallery.

Specialized since 25 years in comic book originals and illustrations, les Petits Papiers Gallery, freshly renamed Huberty & Breyne Gallery, inaugurated an exhibition space in the center of Brussels in March 2012. Today, it imposes itself as an international reference in the field of the 9th Art. On the one hand, the gallery proposes a rigorous selection of original works signed by illustrious drawing masters such as Hergé, Franquin, Geluck, Andreas, and so on. On the other hand, the gallery dedicates itself to talented artists from the comic books art field who also work in other various disciplines such as the leading figures of François Avril, Dominique Corbasson, Jacques de Loustal, Christophe Chabouté and Jean-Claude Götting.

Thanks to their acquisition of a second gallery located Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne thrive to propose an artistic program dedicated to the existing dialogue between comics and contemporary art. As they offer possibilities of imbricated collaborations with visual artists, they succeed in extending their own artists’ creativity. As it is, the program articulates itself around solo-shows and collective exhibitions in which painters, illustrators, comic books authors, visual artists, photographs and sculptors are joined together as to transcend the limits of the genres.

Moreover, the gallery participates to internationally renowned art fairs since many years (2010), such as the BRAFA, Drawing Now, Art Paris Art Fair and more recently the Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong. The gallery has also been the starting point of the itinerant exhibition “Quelques instants plus tard”. An artistic meeting that revealed for the first time a hundred unique art works realized tandem-like by 40 of the most talented comic books authors and 40 major artists of contemporary creation.

HUBERTY & BREYNE GALLERY

Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne have a new 1000 square meters exhibition space in Brussels entirely dedicated to the 9th art. After having brought Comic Strip to the Sablon, mecca to the art dealers and collectors, the gallery becomes now established in Châtelain square, one of the most dynamic areas of Ixelles.

This new stage is part of an evolution, wich will make possible for the artists to exhibit into a space that will fullfil their talent and initiate new projects. Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne aim at bridging the gap between 9th Art and Contemporary Art, therefore they will welcome different events : Solo Shows, collective
