Following commissions from Yamato USA in 2017 for the creation of DC Comics figures, Luis Royo continued exploring this type of representation in artworks inspired by pop culture universes filled with superheroines.
Catwoman is a thief from Gotham City who usually wears a tight-fitting one-piece suit and uses a whip as a weapon. She was originally portrayed as a supervillain and adversary of Batman, but since the 1990s she has appeared in a series that presents her as an antiheroine, often doing the wrong thing for the right reasons.
Catwoman appears with a defiant sensuality, wrapped in a black suit that accentuates her figure in true Luis Royo fashion. Her feline gaze both invites and threatens at once. In her faintly hinted smile lies the mystery of her next temptation: we don’t know whether she has come to steal something… or to steal us ourselves.
