The mystery that Romulo imbues female figures with allows them to convey and transmit the different messages that appeal to us when we observe them. For the artist, feminine figures have that halo of mysticism, mystery and magic they had in ancient mythological tales from different cultures. Along with nature, women are a pillar of his language, and convey that mystical atmosphere of his pieces, communicating all the different meanings viewers bestow on them.
For Romulo, the emulation of the natural model is not an end, but a means to an end. He combines nature and the excellence of artistic production with the knowledge and observation of art in different cultures, derived from different influences and personal experiences. In his creations, we can see a certain melancholy for what humanity was or could have been, a conscious reflection in which non-place and utopia represent the sublime and the fantasy of imitating life as it should be.
