LUIS ROYO & ROMULO ROYO: ART GENERATIONS INAUGURATES LUCCA COMIC & GAMES 2023

On October 14, the doors of the Ducal Palace of the historic walled city of Lucca, in the Italian Tuscany, were opened to welcome all the public who came to the opening of the exhibitions that Lucca Crea has organized for Lucca Comic and Games 2023. This year, under the slogan "Together" Luis Royo and Romulo Royo are part of these exhibitions with what is one of the largest exhibitions to date in the history of Lucca Comic and Games, Luis Royo & Romulo Royo: Art Generations, which revolves around the present, past and future work of both artists, and their influences of Master Goya with whom they share roots. 

 

 

In this 57th edition of Lucca Comic & Games, which every year is organized in collaboration with the municipality of Lucca, the inauguration began after the ribbon cutting presided over by the mayor of the city Mario Pardini, the president of the region Eugenio Giani, the representative of the province Patrizio Andreuccetti, the director of Lucca Crea Nicola Lucchesi and the director of Lucca Comic & Games Emanuele Vietina together with the curators of the exhibitions and the artists Luis Royo and Romulo Royo.

The exhibition, which includes more than 80 works by both artists, traces their careers both together and separately, exhibiting some works that had never before been exhibited because they belong to their respective private collections. The exhibition culminates with the artists' most recent works, dedicated to the master painter and universal Aragonese artist Francisco de Goya, to whom they have paid tribute in the purest Royo style, through large format oil paintings, caricatured pencils, joint illustrations... 19 are the pieces that will amaze the public under this somber and mysterious halo so typical of Goya, but also so typical of Luis Royo and Romulo Royo, who have defined Lucca as the world capital of fantasy.

The exhibitions in the Ducal Palace, which are the most awaited and acclaimed by the international public, can be visited for free from October 15 to 31, from Tuesday to Saturday from 15h to 19h, and on Sunday from 10h to 13h and from 15h to 17h (closed on Monday). From November 1st until November 5th, access will only be allowed to those attending the fair with their entrance ticket and they will be able to visit it during those days from 9h to 19h.
