LUIS ROYO AND ROMULO ROYO: PRESENCE AT AUCTIONS. HERITAGE AUCTIONS OCTOBER 2025

When a work passes through a recognized auction house, the artist gains visibility, the piece is publicly appraised, and their position in the market is reinforced.
In the case of Luis Royo and Romulo Royo, this dynamic is particularly significant. Over the past years, their works have been featured at internationally renowned entities such as Christie’s, Ketterer Kunst, and Heritage Auctions, among others, demonstrating that their creations circulate within leading networks for collectors and the global art market.
These institutions act as a true “barometer” of demand: when bidding for a piece surpasses its estimated value, it reflects not only a successful sale but also the artist’s consolidated recognition. Within this context, on October 25 and 26, 2025, Heritage Auctions included several pieces by Luis Royo in its “International Comic Art” auction. The results were highly positive, confirming the growing interest in his work.

Among the highlights, “Heavy Metal 2000: F.A.K.K. 2” by Luis Royo was sold for $35,000.00, far exceeding its estimated value of $18,000.00 and nearly doubling it. Similarly, “Cover Heavy Metal” surpassed its estimate of $7,000.00, reaching $15,000.00. A special mention goes to “Taarna – Heavy Metal – V9”, which drew strong attention, multiplying its initial estimate of $2,500.00 by six, ultimately selling for $15,000.00.

Other works also exceeded expectations, particularly those inspired by iconic characters from the world of illustration: “Red Sonja Front – Model 1” reached $6,000.00 (surpassing its $2,500.00 estimate), and “Harley Quinn – Model 1T” achieved $3,750.00 (above its $2,600.00 estimate).
