NEW GRAPHIC ARTWORK AT LABERINTO GRIS ART
The works selected for these new prints have been taken from two different aspects of each artist’s work. We have chosen two of Romulo Royo’s works which have a magical component in their atmosphere and the two characters portrayed in them: NINSHUBUR from the Goddesses of Nibiru series and Ripped Colours. And we have focused on the erotic aspect in Luis Royo’s work with the two pictures: The Five Faces of Hecate - 1 and Illicit Window with Red.
As with all our graphic artwork, the four prints are printed on heavyweight watercolor paper and they include a Certificate of Authenticity and are numbered and signed by the author. Two of them are 42 x 60 cm. in a print run of 150 copies and the other two are 61 x 80 cm. in a print run of 150 copies. The technical expertise used in the printing process ensures top quality shades and definition.
We have also selected two other titles from the work on display at Laberinto Gris: DREAMS WHITE - BLACK and LUZ and 2038 PARIS - 1 by artist Luis Royo, with a 30% discount from April 15th to May 15th 2021.
ILLICIT WINDOW WITH RED
THE VISION OF SOUM II
In one of his usual spatial and geometric planning of the work, Romulo Royo captures an image of frontal face, almost symmetrical. His rotundity invades us and at the same time his atmosphere of mist takes us away from him in a plastic contradiction to which we are accustomed. Her grays immersed in infinite shades of color in contrast with the punctual details of intense and striking color ratify us again in the clashes of opposites and garnished with all this we are cut out a face that in front of us does not look at the viewer but at herself and her interior.
THE FIVE FACES OF HECATE I
This picture appeared in Subversive Beauty. This book is a basic in Luis Royo’s career, and deals exclusively with his mysterious heroines. In his introduction he describes the dreamlike atmosphere of this picture:
"The Mother Goddess cursed the boldness of the Sun and the carelessness of the Moon, wept the fall of her daughters and the rains enveloped the Planet. She opened the mountain and, wrapped in fury, went into the heart of the Earth. But the dark girls continue to move among the shadows, they have remained among us hidden in thoughts, and still, in the confused nights, they turn unreality into something vibrant with ritual drawings on their skin and with their cold sensual sword."
