In his fantasy worlds, the fusion of a delicate and macabre elements in a single image is a constant in the work of Luis Royo. The author here reveals his high creative capacity by offering us a powerful image of Baal. The composition, the delicate techniguqe and its perspective clearly stand out in this painting. A close look where the artist shows us a thoughtful, serene, contemplating Baal.
"The smoke from the fires conjured up the old witches and seemed to trace their figures. They were up on a natural stage situated right in the center of the main cave. A horned altar table had been placed on it. A huge figure appeared behind them to the sound of Diula flute music. His face was hidden under the mask of the Great Ram. The natural bone and horns had been coated in silver, and decorations in the form of pendants, locks of hair, animal skins and twigs were attached to the skull with little carvings of hermetic symbols. The wearer of the mask had his eyes closed, and the outer world only reached him through inebriating smells and hypnotic sounds. The ritual belonged to another world. Completing his costume, a garnet-red ankle-length cloak concealed his naked body. He walked up to the foot of the altar".
