After he had killed his own brother, and after murdering the princes You, Mars became reserved. However, upon returning to the castle, he told his closest warriors that he had seen the Moon lying down with the body of a girl and light around her; that the gaze of that girl had shown him that only that light he saw was his destiny and that nothing else mattered. He concluded by saying that that haunted place, that corner of spirits and ghosts, was not for the Chan and their swords. Two captains laughed, and Mars drew and cut their throats right there. Suzong offered to finish off the moon, the clouds or the lightning itself if necessary. That same night the captain's entire family fell ill and three days later they died.
