Ta, Za and Xa slept together in an alcove next to the princess's bedroom. On the other hand, the old woman was in charge of keeping the fortress informed of everything that happened outside, she directed a network of procuresses that extended throughout the city. The witch was her maximum protection, the only one who lightly kissed her head above her hair, and who kept her alive with her spells in spite of her cold blood.
